Dr. Wyatt is an assistant professor in Cal State-Fullerton's Communicative Disorders program. She has presented many workshops throughout the country on the topic of multicultural concerns and is currently a member of ASHA's Multicultural Issues Board and CSHA's task force on the Assessment of the African-American Child.


From this video program you will be able to identify forms of test bias and intervention issues, discuss issues in the assessment process, including different language styles and cross-cultural communication differences, discuss how the use of language genres and the telling of stories known to speaker and listener affect the assessment process, and explain test bias issues such as situational, format and normed tests. You'll be able to use strategies for modifying standardized tests and take into consideration the language of African-American children when analyzing it.
